Friday Fun: Montage-a-google

This site is addictive and fun … You can search for Google images and make a montage, then <Print Screen> and save your masterpiece in PowerPoint or Paint or whatever photo application you use. It’s pretty random, but it’s really funny.

From the site: Montage-a-google (scroll down and click <Launch Project>) is a simple Web-based app that uses Google’s image search to generate a large gridded montage of images based on keywords (search terms) entered by the user. Not only an interesting way of browsing the net, it can also be used to create desktop pictures or even posters.

Health News Review: A project of the Foundation for Informed Medical Decision Making

We all talk about the importance of critical appraisal. When I'm reading health stories in newspapers or hearing them on the news, I always wonder about the quality of the information reported. Well, I just came across this really interesting site: Health News Review, a project of the Foundation for Informed Medical Decision Making.

This site reviews the quality of health articles published in American magazines and newspapers, and reported on television news. Journalists and health professionals rate stories for accuracy, balance, honesty, and completeness. The site lists rating criteria and contributors' credentials. You can search it, or browse by publication date or media source.

Another good source for quality reporting of health stories is MedPage Today. It's worth a separate posting.
